My story
No 1. Where does it all start?
My journey started 10 years ago while dealing with skin issues. I was diagnosed with dyshidrotic eczema, a condition with small, itchy blisters on my fingertips and soles. After meeting with two different dermatologists and continuing to have recurrent symptoms, I decided to dive into the literature to research a durable solution to my problem. My research taught me how hormonal imbalances can negatively affect my skin and overall health. Based on my findings, I have decided to enroll in formulation school to develop my own range of skincare products to ensure the quality and safety of the products I apply to my skin.
No 2. How have I improved my overall health?
After I hit my mid-40s, I noticed some changes in my whole person. For instance, I was more fatigued. I often felt annoyed and easily irritated, even by the sound of my phone notifications. I had difficulty focusing and staying focused while doing my tasks. I was also dealing with forgetfulness; I had to write every important thing on paper, so I remembered to follow up. One day, I was chatting with my daughter, who told me, “Mom, you have changed a lot. Some days you are the nicest person I know, but on other days I’m so scared to talk to you. You’re just another person.” These words hit me like a sledgehammer. I became concerned and started paying attention to myself. I kept track of every detail using a journal. In addition to the issues previously mentioned, I noticed irregularity in my periods. I had constant shoulder pain and low libido. My skin had become drier, and my mouth was usually dry. I remembered the information I read about the negative effects of hormonal imbalances while doing my research on my skin. I quickly concluded that I was in perimenopause, which I confirmed with my doctor
No 3. …and my passion to serve continues to grow.
Knowing that I am in perimenopause with poor knowledge of this stage in a woman’s life, I got my hands on every book and scholarly article I could find about the topic. The readings led me to become a member of the Menopause Society (MS). I was motivated to understand the transformation that I was experiencing. Why did I not feel like myself to the point that I caused fear for my child and maybe others? And how can I help myself? With the help of a practitioner and the knowledge I acquired on the topic, I came up with some great solutions for my overall health and well-being. I believe those great solutions can also serve other women in perimenopause and menopause while taking into consideration the uniqueness of each woman’s experience..
